BIOGRAPHY

Adina Mocanu (b. 1990, RO), visual artist and performer, lives and works currently in Bucharest. She has a MFA and a BFA from The Bucharest University of Arts. Between 2015 – 2016 she was an art resident of The French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici, Italy where she developed a performance project about the pair utopia – dystopia. In the first half of 2017 she was a resident and art teacher at Collins Living – Learning Center – University of Indiana, USA. She spent the second half of the year 2017 in New Orleans, USA, working on a series of works that are still in progress.

Adina works mainly with performance and video, but she often integrates installation, photography and drawing into her practice. She is interested in the different types of intimacy and her approach towards art is ludic and transformative, constantly searching methods to change the perception of the participants /spectators / viewers, to subtly alter their perspective about reality.
