ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN
STEINBERG MUSEUM OF ART, LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY, NY
Andrej Jemec, Tadeusz Kantor, Jan Kotik, Edo Murtic & Romul Nutiu
The intent of the exhibition is to broaden the context of international modernism by exposing works seldom seen in the United States, showing that AE was influential beyond the familiar American and Western European ambit.
This highly unusual exhibition addresses a little-known aspect of artistic expression in Eastern Europe during the Cold War period, when official art in Soviet bloc countries was strictly regulated and was required to adhere to Communist Party doctrine.

SMALL MASTERPIECES FROM THE CAMeC COLLECTIONS
The idea behind this exhibition is to give the deserved acknowledgement and recognition to these small great works. The small dimension represents a particularly interesting terrain for the artist, who condenses or develops in a limited space the idea or intention he considers as a point of departure or arrival in the creative process.
It is a challenge for many artists looking for the efficiency of the composition, the balance of matter. Most of the works exhibited are part of the legacy of the collector families Cozzani and Battolini; beginning in the 18th century with Giovanni Battista Piranesi and progressing towards the Contemporary Art.
