Vincentiu Grigorescu (1923 – 2012), Romanian – Italian artist, is one of the representatives of the Spatialism movement in Europe.
Born in Romania, Vincentiu Grigorescu studied Architecture and Graphics in Bucharest and he was the first Romanian artist that already worked with geometric abstraction in the 50s.
In 1972, he moved to Milan, Italy. His works/interventions on canvas and the material of painting situate him alongside the ‘triad’ Manzoni-Castellani-Bonalumi.
Out of his dense expositional activity arises the series of works Geometrie Casuali and a part of these artworks are shown at Vienna Contemporary 2019.
Geometry seen as a science of measurement, of identification of areas and as an ‘elementary’ sign, as prescriptive invitation to the reading of the work.
